The Chimneys of Green Knowe


 

Tolley who returned to green knowe  for a Easter Holiday. As she  mends a patchwork quilt Mrs. Old know continue to tell Tolley story of the previous inhabitations of their home.  At this time , her stories concerning Susan Old know .

She was a blind girl that lived in Green Knowe during the English regency. With the close bond between the friendship of a young black boy Jacob, He was brought back for west India by Susan's father  Captain Old know.

As the plot goes on about  the concern of the where about of the Jewel's of Maria old knowe,  which  may or may not to stolen by the unscrupulous butler Caxton.

As the  young boy  has listen to his grand mother stories of Green knowe as it was. So Gradually his past and his present had blended, He  shared the strange adventures of the In habitant.   Years later  the story was made into a movie.

That has a wonderful message that goes a long with the story line.  Even thought your past is know longer with us, You have to keep the memories alive.

    I like how Susan and Jacob’s friendship and the mystery of the missing jewels make it so interesting! The way Tolly connects with the past through his grandmother’s stories makes it feel like the house is alive with memories.
