What a beautiful and written story about a mother and daughter in emotional transit. Helen was recently widowed she was coping with loss along with grief unable to work was the best way to sustained her, In the beginning to much for her to depend on her twenty sever year old daughter.
Tessa is melting in her life and offering unsolicated and unwelcome advice. Helen's problem's are compounded by the shocking discovery her loyal and mild mannered husband was living a double life. Ames had painstaking saving for a happy retirement, but the money.
So the money started to disappear in several large withdrawls made by Helen's husband before his death. In oder to support herself and garner a measure of much needed indepences. So Helen taken an unusual job that ending up to offer her far more then what she was anticipation.
Then she recieved a phone call that she was not exspecting from a stanger that would set Helen on a path of discovery that cause both mother and daughter to reassess what they thought they knew about each other, themselves, and what makes a home a family.

ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great book to read. I couldn’t imagine being a widow and then dealing with money loss prior to his death. It kinda reminds me of my last marriage except I wasn’t a widow. But the ex cleaned out the bank account before leaving me.
