Marooned is about the manned spacecraft which has becomes stranded in the earth orbit, oxgen is running out and with the only experimental aircraft that could only attempted to resue them. This was after apollo11 mission the move was basic on.
So when the frst novel was written which involved a single astroant stranded in orbit was in a mercury Spacecraft. A resue mission was launchedusing the experimental Gemini spacecraft as the Soviet vostok were part of the mission as well.
Years later it was rewritten to reflex the achiements of the unit state space program. The movie features three astroants being stranded in the apollo spacecraft after they seperated from apollo Application program pace station that was similuar to the later skylab program mission.
The recue mission was in the flown with a Titan three c rocket that was carrying an experiments to lift the body of the spacecraft. To my surprise They never did something like this before. The soviet involvement in the recue mission was a portaryed as a Soyuz space craft.
Years later is was turned into a movie, that was full of twist and a lot of turns to the storyline.
3 stars.
